The Beech Academy is part of a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) called The Evolve Trust.
The Beech Academy Local Governing Body has a vital role to play in making sure every child gets the best possible education and the MAT trustees/directors have delegated some governance functions to enable the LGB to maintain a strong focus on the core strategic functions of:
a) Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
b) Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
Responsibility for all other functions are retained by the Trustees
The Beech Academy Local Governing Body meets once a term and has a portfolio group that discusses standards & effectiveness and the welfare & guidance of pupils which also meets once a term.
Welcome from the Chair of Governors
This is an exciting time to be a part of The Beech Academy!
The new academy status, the sponsorship by the Evolve Trust and the hard work of staff, parents and pupils has reignited an enthusiasm for learning and desire for success that has transformed the school into a stimulating, inspiring and happy place. The staff, students and families work closely together to support each learner, making sure they have every opportunity to achieve. We hope that by the time our students leave us they will be successful, confident and equipped with the skills to make a positive difference to themselves, their families and the wider world.
Governors act as ‘critical friends’ of the Academy and we seek to ensure that the high targets set are realistic and achievable for all our children. We do this by regular meetings with staff and link Governors who have specific curriculum responsibility
We monitor and evaluate the Academy to ensure that it is fostering best practice in order to give our children the best learning environment that can be achieved. We regularly challenge the Head and leadership team to ensure that the Academy’s strategy for continual improvement is working. We also recognise our responsibilities as employers and seek to improve the working environment where possible and support all our staff both teaching and non-teaching.
We have welcomed 4 new governors to the team who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to a team dedicated to improving practice to ensure the Academy does ‘build brighter futures’ for all.
All Governors give their time freely and details of who we are can be seen on the website. If there are issues that need to be addressed I would ask that you follow the procedures laid down and detailed on our site but I accept responsibility as Chair and am happy to be contacted through school if you are unable to resolve any issues. I am very grateful for the time given by all Governors, because without such support the Academy would not be able to run as it does.
Finally, I pledge the support of the Governing Body to the Academy and to the academy community and promise to work to maintain and, where possible, to improve the value of the Academy to all who work and learn here.
