History

The Beech Academy is located in the district of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. The academy is one of 12 maintained special schools across Nottinghamshire and specialises in provision for young people with a range of special needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorder and moderate learning difficulties.

The Beech Academy joined The Evolve Trust in June 2014. The Evolve Trust is a Multi Academy Trust established by the very successful Brunts Academy and also has The Bramble Academy as a member of the trust. Adrian O’Malley was appointed as the new Head of School to lead the academy forward and “Build Better Brighter” futures for all children and young people in the academy.

Within a year of opening, The Beech Academy tops the Department for Education Performance tables for the percentage of students making expected progress in English and Maths than other similar special schools. The Department for Education released the school performance tables for 2015 results in January 2016 and they show that Beech has performed well against other special schools regionally.

In line with the tradition of The Brunts Academy having its own song, students and teachers from The Beech Academy has produced a music video, Standing Proud, to showcase the staff and students’ talents and enthusiasm.

Partnership working with parents, the voluntary sector, training providers and local employers are a key strength of the academy and we are very proud of these relationships and the impact it has on all of our young people.
