As we arrived, pupils were welcomed by Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Student Outreach Ambassadors for a day of information about Higher Education (HE), access to HE and the possible implications for their future. Pupils were asked ‘What can NTU do for you?’
The pupils asked questions of current NTU Students about aspects of university and areas they wished to know more about, such as courses, accommodation, teaching and learning, social life and societies.
We then had the opportunity to explore the NTU City Campus with current NTU Student Outreach Ambassadors. Pupils planned where they would like to visit from campus maps, including the student union, library, halls of residence and a lecture theatres.
Before lunch, pupils then researched their options in an interactive session using technology in a seminar room, to explore possible post-16 options including higher education, apprenticeships and employment. There were a number of courses which pupils didn’t even realise existed!
After a well-earned lunch, pupils were then involved in a unique practical session in the art and design department, where they created their own photos (without a camera!) in the photography dark room, using a method that has been used for hundreds of years.
The pupils were a credit to the academy and embraced all aspects of the day.
