Year 11 are in the second week of their GCSE Biology course. Today we completed the first mandatory practical, dictated by the exam board. Students had to prepare a slide and then look at it and draw it using a microscope, in common with students in mainstream and special schools up and down the country. Students completed this as part of a carousel of activities with every student making a slide that clearly showed the cells in onion skin. Science teacher Mr Butler said “I’m extremely pleased with the group, not only did they complete a number of challenging tasks but they reflected the values of the school by endeavouring to do their best and by not giving up when things went wrong (resilience)”
Here are some photographs of the group in action and some of the slides they made.
