Learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom…

Year 9 took to the streets on Friday to look at our local environment and how human activity affects the animals and plants that live there.  We walked a circular route and saw a variety of factors that could affect the wildlife including traffic, litter and building work.

We will be using photographs taken by the students in their BTEC Applied Science coursework which will lead to a science qualification at the end of the year.  Students looking at pictures on the internet is a poor substitute for getting out of school and seeing things (and asking questions) for themselves.   Well done to year 9 for their exemplary behaviour (in fact a member of the public came forward and praised the students for their conduct whilst we were out)
