While preparing a vegetable patch at the Westfield Site this morning, a student working with Mr Bennett came across some buried treasure! As part of his horticulture work, our students are preparing the ground to plant tubers so had dug down deep and found something stuck on the fork. On closer inspection it turned out to be a half-penny coin, or ha’penny bit in ‘old money, dated 1900. On the reverse side an image of Queen Victoria can be seen. Research is underway amongst the students to find out how best to clean up the coin so it can be displayed.
